In the last few years there have been so many challenges to small businesses and for those that have weathered the storm, there are still pressures, whether that is the cost of living crisis or the incoming Making Tax Digital for Income Tax pressures, as that gets closer to implementation over the next few years, there is always something!

It can feel like there are so many things to do that you can't keep up and that can get overwhelming.

‍

There are many service providers that can help take some of the load off of you, depending on the skills you have and the areas you really need help with, but that is still a cash outlay where the benefit isn't always obvious.

‍

We would always suggest considering the cashflow implications, of both the cash outlay of the cost but also the time and energy you sacrifice in completing tasks that don't match your skills.

‍

If paying £100 to a service provider, be that bookkeeping, marketing, IT or HR, then if that frees up time for you to earn £300 then it is an easy decision. However, it isn't as clear where you do have the time and the skill and currently have the energy but if your plan is to grow your company, the best time to bring in support is when you have the time and energy to train and steer that support, in the right way to support you when the pressures grow.
